Top 3 Tips To Prep Your Backyard For Summer

Summer is just around the corner! As the weather gets warmer and the days become longer, you’ll want your backyard to be in top shape for the sunny months ahead. Here are our top 3 tips to ensure your backyard is prepped and ready for enjoyment all season long.

Clean and set up the patio

Before setting up your back patio, you should always clean the area. Your deck will likely be covered in a layer of dirt accumulated over the spring and winter season. Use a broom and a pail of water to scrub the deck down and rid it of any stubborn grime.

It's also a good idea to hose down your outdoor furniture to clear off any dust or bugs. Once everything is clean and dry, you can put everything back together and if you’re feeling like a change from last year, move things around and rearrange.

Prepare the essentials

Set up your BBQ if you haven't already, and check the propane tank to ensure it is full and in good condition. If the tank is rusted or expired, it is time to invest in a new one. Get out all the grilling essentials such as a spatula, grill brush and tongs, and make sure the grate is clean and ready for use.

If you own a pool, check the chemistry levels weekly. If the water starts to look cloudy, you will need to balance the chemicals. Visit your local pool store or read your pool manual for tips on how to keep your pool in top condition all summer long.

Tend to your grass

One of the best ways to spruce up your backyard is to show your lawn some love. Make sure your lawn mower is in good working condition, and cut your grass on a regular basis to keep it looking clean and tidy.

Get rid any nasty weeds that have accumulated over the year by pulling them out by the root. Patch any bare spots and spread some fertilizer to promote grass growth. Letting your sprinkler run will help kick start the process!
